Reflections from Chris Wagner

I believe you wanted us to send some thoughts on our experience at Transitional Housing last weekend. It was an exceptional experience for our whole family. I know we would like to keep the connection with the folks we met and we can't wait to go back. We discussed the day when we got home, and Allyson and Katie (10 yrs old) mentioned that they couldn't tell the difference between who was there from the church and who was living there.

Wow. To me, that was the strongest statement of the day. The adults and the kids we met were our neighbors in every way. Going there and doing an Easter egg hunt was no different than being at a similar event at our church, or for that matter....at the White House.

We met very nice families. We ate, talked, played and had big fun...as friends. I wish I could put into words how joyous it is to just bring a lunch and share time with others. There is a term "There but for the grace of God go I...". I don't know the origin of that saying, but it really speaks to our experience. One mishap, one bad turn and our family could easily be in the place where these friends find themselves.

We pray for them to get back on their feet. And we look forward to spending more time with them, and finding new ways to help out where we can.

Peace, Chris
